Brandon Woodhouse runs B&H Junk Removal, and he does the junk removal in Needles himself. He prices the job from a photo you text him, then loads it. Text a photo to (559) 479-1199. A lot of the calls here come from downtown, where Route 66 runs through, and from the streets around the train depot and the El Garces hotel. Those calls hand over furniture and boxes from a back room nobody has opened in years.

The city points residents to its own bulk waste pickup, so that is one option on the table. Brandon is the other, and he is the one people call when the load is too heavy to move by hand or still sitting in the back bedroom or the shed. He answers the phone himself, so the person who prices the load is the one who carries it out. Needles sits in San Bernardino County, where disposal runs through five regional landfills and nine transfer stations.

Brandon works out of Golden Valley and crosses into California for these jobs, like his junk removal runs in Mohave Valley. His week is Monday through Saturday, 7 to 5, and Sunday he is closed. The load goes out in a pickup truck with a trailer. Nothing has to be at the curb. He carries it out from wherever it sits, even if that is the second bedroom or the far corner of the lot.

Paint, solvents, propane tanks and anything still holding fuel stay off the truck. Out at the river end of town, Bob Belt's Beach Park sits along the Colorado River, so the calls out there run to busted coolers and patio chairs. Anything still useful goes to a donation center, metal gets recycled where it can be, and the rest goes to the landfill.

How Bulk Waste Pickups works

  • Residential customers can put bulk household waste items out at the curb three times each calendar year. Apartments are not included.
  • Call the city's hauler at least forty-eight hours ahead to schedule the pickup.
  • You will be asked for an inventory of the items you plan to put out.
  • Items you can put out are discarded furniture, rugs, water heaters, large appliances, and mechanical devices that are too large or heavy for the refuse container.

Questions

Questions about junk removal in Needles.

Where does household hazardous waste go in Needles?
What does junk removal cost in Needles?
It depends on what is in the photo. Brandon looks at it and gives one number for the whole job, and he takes cash, check or Cash App. The pricing guide walks through how he reads a load. Text a photo to (559) 479-1199.
What will Brandon not take in Needles?
Hazardous material, mostly. Paint, solvents, thinners and household chemicals stay behind, along with propane tanks and any pressurized cylinder, motor oil, antifreeze, fuel cans, car batteries and pool or spa chemicals. Asbestos, or anything that might contain it, needs a licensed abatement contractor. Appliances still hooked to gas, water or power have to be disconnected first. Size matters too on a Needles load: San Bernardino County turns away items over ten feet long at its landfills, and over four feet long at its transfer stations, which is the county's rule and not his, so a torn out deck or a long run of fence gets cut down before it goes on the truck. The guide to what goes on the truck covers the rest.
Does Brandon drive out to Needles from Arizona?
Yes. He is based in Golden Valley and Needles is part of the service area. Interstate 40 runs through Needles east to west, and Highway 95 handles the north to south access.
Will he haul an old refrigerator out of a Needles house?
Yes. The fridge comes out from where it sits, as long as it is disconnected from power, gas or water first. County disposal sites take refrigerators only with no Freon left in them, which is the county's rule rather than his.
