Scrap metal removal in Golden Valley, AZ
The rusted pile by the fence gets carried out, in Golden Valley and across Mohave County.
Brandon Woodhouse runs B&H Junk Removal, and scrap metal removal in Golden Valley is the job where the load is almost all steel. He covers the rest of Mohave County too, and he does the hauling himself. Text a photo to (559) 479-1199. What makes this one its own job is the pile. Metal is heavy and most of it has edges that cut, so it sits out behind the shed for years before anybody deals with it. The water heater that got swapped out. The fence panels leaning on the block wall since the wind took them down.
The calls come from two kinds of people. One is the homeowner clearing the side yard before a sale, with a mower that quit and a stack of rusted rebar in the weeds. The other is the manager of a rental or a shop, who needs a bay or a unit emptied and does not want to make a run himself. Either way Brandon wants the picture first. He prices from what he can see, and the full rundown of what goes on the truck covers the mixed piles that are part metal and part everything else.
Brandon answers the phone himself, so the person pricing the metal is the person loading it. His days are Monday through Saturday, 7 to 5, and Sunday he is closed. A photo that shows the whole pile and the way in to it tells him most of what he needs. If the scrap is behind a locked gate or up a set of stairs, that is worth a second picture.

What usually ends up in a metal pile
Most scrap loads around here are the same handful of things in different amounts. Water heaters and swamp coolers that got replaced. Chain link and the posts that came out with it. Bed frames, metal shelving and patio furniture that rusted through at the joints. Steel rims off a truck. Pipe and conduit left over from a plumbing job. Homeowners call once the pile is bigger than the back of a car, and a manager calls when a tenant leaves metal behind in a unit. The difference between this and a general junk load is weight and handling. A trailer fills fast when the pile is steel, and the cut edges mean Brandon takes it piece by piece in gloves instead of tossing it in. He will pull the metal out of a mixed pile too. It does not have to be clean scrap before he quotes it.
How Brandon loads a metal haul
He shows up in a pickup truck with a trailer and loads by hand. Heavy pieces come apart or get walked out rather than dragged across a finished floor, and a water heater coming down a flight of stairs gets strapped and taken one step at a time. Nothing has to be moved to the curb first. Brandon carries it out from the back fence line or from a side yard behind a locked gate. On a rental or a commercial lot he works the timing out with the manager, so the trailer is not blocking a drive or a tenant space during business hours. He can quote from the photo and set the day on the phone.
Scrap Brandon will not load
A few things on a metal pile stay where they are. Propane tanks and any other pressurized cylinder, including the patio and camping sizes, do not go on the trailer. Car batteries stay, and so does anything still holding liquid, which rules out the motor oil, antifreeze and fuel cans that collect next to the scrap. Paint, solvents, thinners and household chemicals are out, and pool and spa chemicals count as household hazardous waste. Anything that may contain asbestos needs a licensed abatement contractor. An appliance still connected to gas, water or power has to be disconnected before it can go, and getting a disconnected water heater or washer out of the house is its own job. If the transfer station will not take it, Brandon cannot either. Ask him and he will check.
Where the metal goes after it leaves
Brandon sorts the load after it comes off the property. Anything still usable goes to a donation center first, which is where a good hand truck or a shelving unit with some life left in it ends up. The rest is recycled where it can be. What is genuinely trash goes to the landfill. Nobody has to separate the pile ahead of time for that to work. Metal mixed in with wood and cardboard is still one load, and Brandon splits it up at his end. Scrap loads often have a dead TV or a computer tower leaning against the pile, and those are handled separately from the metal.
What a metal haul costs
The minimum is $250. That is the floor on any scrap job, a single water heater by the garage door included. Above that, Brandon prices from the photo and gives one number for the whole job. The quote itself costs nothing, and he will tell you if he needs to see more. The page on what a load costs around here walks through the same approach on every job. Text a photo to (559) 479-1199.
Metal hauls across Mohave County
Mohave County is spread out, and that shows up on a metal pickup. Brandon covers Golden Valley and Kingman, along with Bullhead City, Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley, Dolan Springs, Lake Havasu City and Laughlin in Nevada, plus the smaller places he covers without a page of their own, like Valle Vista, Chloride, Oatman, Yucca and White Hills. B&H Junk Removal is based in Golden Valley and works out to the job, so every pickup is a drive. The list of towns the trailer gets out to has the whole map. The farther out the property is, the more the photo matters, because Brandon is pricing and loading the same trip.
