How the pricing works
There are two numbers to keep track of, and the only thing that decides between them is how much there is.
- $250 for a full truck bed. A full-size pickup bed loaded level and strapped down. Roughly a small room of furniture, or a single garage that is not packed to the ceiling.
- $500 for the truck bed and the trailer. Both filled. This is the largest single load we take in one trip.
- Smaller than a truck bed is quoted. A couple of pieces of furniture is not a $250 job, so tell us what you have and we will price it properly.
- Bigger than the truck and trailer is more than one trip. We tell you that when we price it, not once we are half way through.
Two things that change the math
Both of these are about volume and weight rather than about us adding anything on. It is worth knowing before you call so the number is not a surprise.
- Heavy material fills the bed on weight. Broken concrete, brick and stucco are heavy enough that a truck bed is full long before it looks full. A rubble pile that looks like one load is often two or three.
- Bulky material fills it on space. Brush and cut branches take up far more room than they weigh, so a big brush pile often needs the trailer as well as the bed.
What the price covers
- The loading. You do not need to move anything to the curb first.
- Carrying it out of the garage, off the patio, or from the back of the lot.
- Strapping the load down and hauling it away.
- Unloading it at the transfer station, with yard waste sorted into the green waste bay.
Where it actually goes
Loads go to the transfer station. Yard waste and cut brush go into the green waste bay rather than in with general refuse, because it is sorted separately there. Scrap metal comes off the load where it is worth doing.
Some things cannot go on the truck at all, because the transfer station will not accept them: paint, solvents, household chemicals, propane tanks and asbestos. Those need a household hazardous waste drop-off. If you are not sure whether something counts, ask when you call.
